Yes, just look at the public schools, they all charge a flat rate student fee for supplies , etc. I though public schools were free. When I attended them, there was no such thing as this fee and that fee., and fund raisings were next to non existent.

i thought the schools are getting a share of the moeny from the lottery! if so, why wo we have to vote on bonds and whatnot for the schools every few years?

I hate school having fund raising because I think it’s fake. I think they are just using the money for theirselves! They can earn a lot of money by just saying they will have fund raising or something else to improve the school and for the charity stuffs. But I think those schools are corrupt!

    Absolutely.

The work is mostly done by the parents from my experience.

The last ten-20 items I bought from fundraisers were useless and overpriced to say the least. Ex. $15 for a calendar and key-chain. The same or better quality items were easily found at my local 99 cent store. What a disappointment.
Schools should spend less time on fund-raising and try to encourage reading or math and get sponsors from large corporations to donate they need the write offs anyway. It saves PTA so much headache long term.
It is the second month of school and my son has already has 2 fundraisers at his school. I put them straight in the trash and take him out to dinner.
    Against it.
