  Have a huge stew dinner at the shelter one night. The ingredients are cheap and you can feed a lot of people.

  How about having a charity pet wash? Have pet owners come by to have their pets cleaned. Let them know it si for a good cause.

  Gather everyone together that you can to bring things in to put up on ebay. Let Ebay customer’s know where the money will go to. Start a Myspace account with some pictures of the animals. Maybe someone will open their heart and pocket at the same time.

  You could hold a good old fashioned family fun day in aid of the shelter. You could have a jumble sale, produce sale, games, crafts, competitions all to raise awarness of your cause of course as well as money.

  You could have a scheme where people can pay to adopt an animal.

  Do a sponsored dog walk.

  Have a competition for local school children on what to name the shelter and they have to pay to enter.

  you can have a car wash or charity dinner,I don’t wanna sound mean but having experience in animal grooming,a pet wash sounds like a great idea,but animals bite,expecially the ones that don’t know you,and what if you got bit?even the cutest dogs can and will nip people that they don’t know!Be careful and good luck!

  Have a dog show. Let everyone bring there pet and you can have judging for best costume, best trick. Pet owner look-a-like contest. Cutest, ugliest dog. All sorts of different categories. People are always willing to show off their pets. Just have everyone pay to enter each contest. Take donations as well. Their always contests and such for pure-bred dogs, everyone with “muts” feel left out. This will be a great way to include everyone. Put up fliers, call radio, newspaper and tv stations. Just get as many people there as possible! Good luck!

  You can try and get local businesses to donate prizes and services to give away as prizes for the contests.

  DOG JOG – people take pledges and collect money then meet for a morning for a walk in the local park.. you have lots of prizes donated and do raffles (the best raffle is where people buy like 10 tickets for $5 and then you have lots of prizes on the tables with cans in front – people put their names on their tickets and put the tickets in any can to win the prize it goes with..)the more donated prizes the better –
  then you go for a 1/2 hour walk in the park come back for hot dogs and then do the draws and also give a special prize to the person who collected the most $$
  you get hotdogs and pop donated and every dog walker gets 1 hotdog 1 pop and can buy more if they want… \

  why dont you find a company that helps people with raising money.like selling candy bars or candles or avon produt.
