fund raising

I’m heading a fund raising comity at our college to send some of our students to Africa to help build a school for orphans. So I need to run a series of events, sales, or any way to make some bucks to contribute to the fund. So any ideas would be greatly contributed.

Home Interior now has candles for fund raisers, I would contact one of them. Everyone loves candles.

lottery, battle of the bands: if u have some musicians at the school who would like to play for free and then u can sell tickets for other students, dodgeball tournaments: teams have to pay to get involved, yet the winning teams get good prizes.

Make some type of a deal with a restuarant such as Burger King or BW3. They will either donate a percentage of the funds or all of it when people from your school come in to eat. You could do as a 3 hour event or the funds from a one or two week period. This worked very well for my college’s band.

Have a food sale, car wash, put together a dance, request business sponsorships. Organize a tournament such as basketball or softball. Sell soda at local festivals. Hold a raffle of some type using prizes and services you have donated by local businesses. Put together a garage sale using items you get from family and friends. That will give them an opp. to get rid of stuff they don’t use and you will get a little extra cash.

I’ve noticed that some companies are into fundraising. For example, Little Ceasers Pizza, I think maybe Coldstone Creamery….people like to buy things they already know of. I’m sure you would have to give a percentage of your profits to the company, but hopefully you would do well enough. Also, just let people know what you are doing…people are happy to just donate to good causes. If you are a member of a Church, I’m sure they would make an announcement, or if you are not, if you went to a local Church with your idea, you might find yourself a sponsor. Or, you could set up a website for online contributions. Just have to find a way to convice people you are legit…Maybe you could get the nice folks at Yahoo to help out???? Good luck

I worked in marketing for a pizza chain and we would set up a 2 fold event for fund raising one was to sell pizza by the slice we sold them a 1 topping at a big discount so they could turn around and resell it at a profit. The other part being sold at the same time and one their own was a BOGO free card it sold for $10 and they paid $1 for it pretty good profit. This is no guarantee that you can get this same deal in the area you live in but rather a suggestion as to how to approach them as a partner. We also did a dollar donation to a school for every competitor coupon returned to us.

    Some other ideas are
    - to get donations from local merchants and auction them off.
    -to have a bacholer/bachalorette auction
-to have student donate items and have a huge yard sale
-contact radio and newspapers about your event it is free advertising get the word out
-post online any events that you are having
-its old fashion but have a car wash and bake sale
-contact larger businesses for cash donations
-have a charity walk or run you can also get donations to support this t-shirts/flyers
Make sure you follow up with thank you letters!
    Good luck!
