  How about a coconut shy or pin the tail on the donkey and then giving a little prize if you knock the nut off or pin the tail in the right place? You could have small and cheap prizes as you are bound to make more money than the prizes would cost? How about a sponsored sports day kind of thing? Three legged race, egg and spoon race, throwing beanbags etc.

  eating cream crackers in a certain amount of time, i think it is four in a minute but look it up. i remember doing it as a kid it is impossible as they suck all the moisture from your mouth and you cannot swallow after two, offer a cash prize for anyone who succeeds i remember it was great fun watching everyone have a go.

  edit- also put some cash in a clear box with a combination lock securing it, charge folk to have a go trying to open it, 50p for each attempt. the odds on them doing it are pretty slim.

  Table quizzes..fee to pay per table. Raffles..if local businesses would sponser prizes; maybe combined with a social event of some sort..if a local band or musician would help out as well. Pajama days..children sponsered to wear their pjs to school for a day..always a big hit!! Sponsered walks? Bag packing for a couple of hours in a local supermarket (unless the children are very young). Concert/play?

  Give each child a tube of Smarties to take home. When they’ve eaten the sweets they have to try and fill the tube with 5p coins from family & friends, then return it! We did this at playgroup and it raised a fair bit of cash with no effort!!

  If it’s local, you could collect photos of people when they were babies and get people to guess who they are now, 50p a go, Or ave a disco and get people to pay for the music they want playing or to pay to get certain music turned off,
  another idea is to have a people auction eg. a decorator, a gardner for a day, I think everyone could have some sort of talent.

  Hi Pip, Not looked at all the other answers, but how about starting a 2p trail in the hall on a particular day and invite both children and parents/carers to take part as well. They did it at my childrens school when they were small. see how much money you make and the fun had by all, if you put refreshments on then that is another income, but don’t charge a lot then you’ll find people are willing to do something like it again. Don’t forget to measure the length of the trail, then you can try to beat it next time.

  ooh, there’s so many fun ways to raise money. altho what with today’s culture i’m not sure if the ones i grew up doing are still alright. you can do a jumble-sale (the mothers might enjoy taking the opportunity to have a clear out) you could do a sponsored silence - always a good laugh, we did that when i was a kid. put on a concert or a play or something and charge for the tickets. do a clean up, when i was in primary school we got kitted up with rubber boots and washing up gloves and cleared rubbish out of a field next to the school. the ponies that lived in the field were very pleased. a sponsored walk. you could put on an “art auction” get the kids to make things in class and then put on an art auction for the parents and stuff and sell their works of art.

  when doing sponsored things then try to think of things that can be educational for the kids/give them some community pride/something cute or beneficial that people would be willing to pay for. like a sponsored tree planting or something.

  How about a Car Wash. Kids love this activity - sloshing around in water and such.

  If it’s a decent sized school, you can host a carnival.

  It’s also nice to have a cake stall in the carnival.

  You could always do something like a sponsored walk. You would need to get parents involved or make sure you have enough supervision but our local school recently did this and it was a great success.

  How about a play where you charge an entry fee, you could get the kids to act out short plays according to year group or a whole school play.

  A family quiz could be good too and the children could come up with the questions. There could be a small prize for the winning team but all entry money & donations would go to the charity.

  It worked out well for our group.

  I once sat a group of children in a bath of baked beans to raise money - they loved it.
  Local supermarkets donated the beans.
  the children were sponsored for how long they could sit in them.
